Carter Cellars Beckstoffer Bourn Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2023
Tasting Notes
From a site in the heart of St. Helena, the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Bourn Vineyard shows a deep and profound purple color. Notes of lively blue fruits, allspice, graphite and toasty oak all leap from the glass. An opulent and full-bodied wine, it shows ideal balance on the palate - a mixture of great fruit, rounded sweet tannins and natural acidity that results in an impressively lengthy finish. This wine is pure pleasure and will surely be a favorite in your cellar over time.
"Coming from a site just beside Dr. Crane, yet with a hardpan at about four to five feet down, giving it its own distinctive style, the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Bourn Vineyard sports a vivid purple hue as well as a rocking nose of crème de cassis, wildflowers, savory herbs, and chocolate. It's full-bodied, round, supple, and incredibly seductive on the palate, with sweet tannins and a great finish. Drink this hedonistic yet complex, nuanced beauty over the coming 15 years. Drink 2025-2040."

The History of the Bourne Vineyard
This heritage 12-acre St. Helena vineyard is a stone’s throw from Beckstoffer Dr Crane and Las Piedras vineyards, Beckstoffer Bourn Vineyard was originally the vineyard of William Bowers Bourn II, a gold mining pioneer from San Francisco. First planted in 1872 as a family home, it is one of the oldest vineyards in Napa Valley. A portion of the original vineyard was purchased by Beckstoffer Vineyards in 2010 and replanted mostly to various clones of Cabernet Sauvignon on three different rootstocks - there is still a small area of old head trained Petite Sirah vines.
